About the weather stations and software used at my location.
I have three different weather station brands/models:
Davis Vantage Vue (from 2013, replaced in 2024) - collects outdoor and indoor temperature and humidity, wind speed and direction, barometric pressure and rainfall data (tipping gauge).
Weatherflow Tempest (from 2022, replaced in 2024) - collects outdoor temperature and humidity, wind speed and direction (ultrasonic sensor), barometric pressure, rainfall (haptic sensor), lightning and solar radiation data.
Ecowitt (from 2021 and added onto over several years) - collects outdoor and indoor temperature and humidity, barometric pressure, rainfall (tipping gauge), lightning, air quality (indoor and outdoor), leaf wetness, soil temperature and soil moisture data.
I have an Ecowitt HP10 webcam sitting in a basement window acting as a weathercam. It suffers from some window reflections on sunny days but works well.
I also have a PurpleAir system (from 2023) for outdoor air quality.
Data are collected by various software/data collection packages:
Cumulus MX 4 running on a Windows mini-PC- Tempest and Ecowitt data, plus PurpleAir.
Meteobridge running on a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Rev 1.2 - collects data from all three stations plus the PurpleAir.
Data from the Tempest is also used in a weather forecast program (WXSIM) which has been customized for my specific location. This runs on the Windows mini-PC and forecasts are run at 5am, 10am, 2pm, 6pm and 10pm.
